Player and Alumni Spotlight

Tori Armishaw - Business Management Major - '15

Forward - Senior Captain 2014 Season

Why did you choose Wentworth?

I chose Wentworth because of its reputation, location and sports. Wentworth's academics combined with the co-op program helps students gain experience before they even graduate, making them more attractive to potential employers. I always wanted to go to school in Boston because I love the city lifestyle and Boston is the best place for a college kid with all of its events and its sports teams. Lastly, I wanted to play soccer in college at a school that provided a good balance between academics and athletics.

What is the best part about being part of the Wentworth Women's Soccer Team?

The best part of being part of the team is the bond you have with all your teammates.

What are you plans after graduation?

I plan to stay in Boston to work while also earning my Master's degree.

Anything else you feel is helpful for potential recruits?

When considering what school to choose, keep in mind the opportunities Wentworth and Boston present for your career that other schools can't offer.

Rachel Perras - Computer Science Major - '17

Central Defender - All-CCC - 2013

Why did you choose Wentworth?

I chose Wentworth because I could play soccer while studying the major of my choice, Computer Science.  Playing on Sweeney Field in the center of Boston was also a huge attraction.

What is the best part about being part of the Wentworth Women's Soccer Team?

The best part of being a part of this team is that you have a core set of friends who are experiencing the same things that you are, the demands of being a student-athlete.

What are you plans after graduation?

After graduation I hopefully will be working for a computer company, I haven't quite figured out exactly what I would like to do with my major, the options are so broad!

Anything else you feel is helpful for potential recruits?

I did not want to come to school in the city at all when I started out my search, but now I can't picture myself anywhere else! It is so different than what I had imagined it to be, in a good way. The school still had a campus, which is rare in the city, and yet I can still walk to "the Pru" for some cheesecake or go for a run through "The Fens." It's a great school and place to be!

Liv Moore - Architecture Major - '15

Forward - All-CCC - 2013 (Broke season points record)

Why did you choose Wentworth?

I chose Wentworth for the location of being in Boston, the Coop Program and the opportunity to study architecture and participate in varsity sports.

What is the best part about being part of the Wentworth Women's Soccer Team?

The best part about being on the team is coming into school with a great group of girls to hang out with/ask questions/or get help from. I would say it is an advantage to know coming into school you will have a group of people that you are very close with. We also have A LOT of fun together in and out of season.

What are you plans after graduation?

Hopefully get accepted into the Masters Program for Architecture at Wentworth and live in Boston and continue to gain work experience.  The Apeal of WIT to an Architecture student is that the school offers a one year grad program.  Most graduate programs are two years.

Anything else you feel is helpful for potential recruits?

Our team is full of Architecture student-athletes and it is very helpful.  Wentworth was an easy choice as it is one of the few schools where you can play soccer and major in Architecture.

Alumni Spotlight: Evelyn Hadden '08

Q: What have you been doing since leaving Wentworth?

A: I started working in Boston as an interior Designer at CBT Architects and last fall I moved to Austin TX and am currently working as an interior designer at GSC Architects here.

Q: What is your fondest memory while wearing the Wentworth jersey?

A: I think most of the girls that were on the team at this time would say when we beat Endicott in overtime on our turf my junior year. It was the best feeling in the world when Zowie scored that goal and we had a huge pig pile on the field. Also, just the amazing friendships I made from playing was the greatest part of all. I’ve kept in touch with most of them and we’re still very close.

Q: What is the one lesson/concept you learned at Wentworth that has helped you the most as you've moved into your post-collegiate career?

A: There are a couple things that I know I have learned by playing soccer on the collegiate level, one being time management. Playing and having such a demanding major was very tough and took a lot out of me but it made me prioritize and get what I needed to get done more efficiently, which has carried over into my career. Also, the relationships I have with people. I was the captain my senior year and that has helped me determine when to step up to the plate and take charge or stop and let someone else take that role. I know how to take criticism positively and in this career, that is a HUGE advantage.

Q: Give your thoughts on what it means to be a part of the Wentworth Soccer program?

A: Wentworth soccer will always be among my greatest memories of college. When you spend that much time involved in something it truly makes an impact on your life and for me it was absolutely a positive one. I’ve met some of my best friends through the program and wouldn’t have changed anything about it. As a player you were acknowledged positively around the campus by both other students and professors. The professors really respected the time you put into something else and you could tell.
